Airbags May Soon be Compulsory in India

Safety always has been a cause of concern in the India and taking into account that road accidents in the country are increasing at an alarming rate, it is necessary that there is some Government stipulated rules made to make our roads safer. We have already seen the measures taken in this regard. Once the India automobile manufacturers cars failed crash tests, there was an active debate that eventually led to crash testing became mandatory in the India from 2017. After that, we will see more of such initiatives fall into place.

Minister Union Nitin Gadkari said "no car will be built without cab airbag and trucks will require mandatory air-conditioning accessories", which clearly points in the direction of making this type of mandatory safety devices on cars manufactured and sold in the India soon.


Automakers such as Toyota, Suzuki Maruti, Volkswagen and others have already begun to provide safety features such as ABS and air bags as part of the standard equipment and there are many others following its example. Marking the beginning of the road safety week with a "walk" of the India gate, Gadkari said that the Government has identified and began work on 10 large black spots in Delhi and the Government will spend 11,000 million rupees in the next five years to improve the road infrastructure.

Gadkari said in addition that the India is one of the countries suffering from a high number of traffic accidents every year and even wars are not witnesses to a high number of victims of the nation is suffering because of this threat such.
